REFLECTION TIME CALCULATIONS MADE EASY (last modification January 10, 2003) Let's assume Player A (PA) and Player B (PB) are playing each other, and PA starts by sending his move on August 22 as white: ===================================================================== PA to PB: [Event "CA-2002-0-00076"] [Site "IECG"] [Date "2002.08.22"] [Round "1"] [White "Player A"] [Black "Player B"] [Result "?"] 1.e4 ? Your move sent : -- Your move received: -- Time (PA): 0/0 I replied : 22 August Time (PB): 0/0 =================================================================== PB then received PA's move on 23 August and replies on 25 August: =================================================================== PB to PA: [Event "CA-2002-0-00076"] [Site "IECG"] [Date "2002.08.22"] [Round "1"] [White "Player A"] [Black "Player B"] [Result "?"] 1.e4 c5 2.? Your move sent : 22 August Your move received: 23 August Time (PA): 0/0 I replied : 25 August Time (PB): 2/2 =================================================================== PA receives PB's move on 26 August and send his reply on 27 August: =================================================================== PA to PB: [Event "CA-2002-0-00076"] [Site "IECG"] [Date "2002.08.22"] [Round "1"] [White "Player A"] [Black "Player B"] [Result "?"] 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 ? Your move sent : 25 August Your move received: 26 August Time (PA): 1/1 I replied : 27 August Time (PB): 2/2 =================================================================== PB receives PA's move on 27 August and sends his reply on 30 August: =================================================================== PB to PA: [Event "CA-2002-0-00076"] [Site "IECG"] [Date "2002.08.22"] [Round "1"] [White "Player A"] [Black "Player B"] [Result "?"] 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.? Your move sent : 27 August Your move received: 27 August Time (PA): 1/1 I replied : 30 August Time (PB): 3/5 =================================================================== Note how the time is calculated. To the left of the "/" you have the number of days spent for the latest move, and to the right of the "/" you have the total number of days spent for the entire game. So PB's time is 3/5 (3 days for my latest move, 5 days total) now because he spent 3 days on his last move, and because he had already spent 2 days, his total is now 5 days.
